Foods with Zinc and Magnesium

Oysters top the list as sources for zinc; however, you probably don’t cook or eat them often unless you live in an area where they are easy to find. Red meat, poultry, and some beans, including chickpeas, or garbanzo beans, are also rich in zinc. Cashews and almonds contain zinc and magnesium, as do whole grains.

Both animal and plant foods contain zinc; however, phytates in grains and legumes can inhibit your ability to absorb zinc during digestion by binding to the mineral. Plants can provide some zinc, but zinc from animal products is more available for use in the body.
